||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 5 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 6 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 7 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 7:15 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Tweeny - dead from the yaws
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, February 01, 2024 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Catherwood strides up and pipes up "Presenting 'llan', just granted probation at 8:00 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
llan: good evening
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood intones: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's Deputy Dang, just back from Billville."
Deputy Dang: Howdy llan!
||||||||| Catherwood escorts Tweeny into the room, accepts a $3 bill as a gratuity, grumbles something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
llan: hey dang. hey tween
Tweeny: Evenin' folks
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:00 PM and Cease bounds out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Deputy Dang: Howdy Tweeny!
Tweeny: Hey Cease
||||||||| Beet tiptoes in around 8:00 PM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last week's "unpleasant incident."
Beet: Evening Folks!
Tweeny: Dang, llan...
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Tweeny: Yo Beet
llan: Hi Beet
llan: hey cease
llan: cease from greece
Beet: Hi, Tween, Dang, Llan, Cease.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet! Howdy, Cease!
Cease: Hey all.I was talking to the Library of Congress dude on Tuesday about which collages should go into the library. I just emailed the guys plus Oona about their requests and also want yours, please
Tweeny: very cool, Cease :-)
llan: how about the one with hunter thompson? I thought that was really cool
Tweeny: Surely the one about Lenny Bruce. I'm sure he influenced the Firesigns
llan: sure
Cease: Well, Ossman told me my collages were going into the Museum after I did the We're Doomed piece for him (Llan is in that, as I recall. Elayne is in it twice!).
Tweeny: but yeah, any of the ones which relate to influences on FST's comedy
Cease: Good idea, Tween. And Lennys friend and mine and Firesign's, KRASSNER
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "The future ain't here yet, man!"
Cease: Yes, Llan. I think there's more than one Hunter Thompson collage, but the one called The Wave is I think my fave, though the music at the end goes on for too long
Cease: Why is that sound so low?
llan: I meant the one where thompson is furious about rumours about him and then he finds out he had leaked the info himself
llan: that was hilarious
Cease: That's what I noticed when I listend to the Fortune Cookie 14: many bits just drop out. I can't imagine i would have put those out in thsat condition.
Cease: Not only an insult to Firesign, I even did it to Neal Amid.
Tweeny: This, Cat? This is straight from a CD rip
Tweeny: if it's low in places, it's because they made it that way
Cease: not in Fortune Cookie 14. I didn't do that on purpose on Neal Amid.
Cease: I c an't understant how I could have considered those acceptable to play here, or anywhere.
Tweeny shrugs
Cease: I told Matt to listen to them but now fervently hope he doesn't until I perform major surgery
Tweeny: It can be fixed
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "At your cervix."
Cease: Indeed Tween.
Tweeny: Good that you're going through all of them and evaluating the wuality
Tweeny: *quality, even
Cease: I told Matt to include the bio collages but I must listen to them to make sure they still are.
Cease: When I referred to you, Tween, Matt wondered how you got that name so I remiinded him of HTF.
llan: of course every woman over 5 wants a cheese log for a game prize
llan: I meant 45
Cease: I told y'all last week about the email from Ossman setting up that interview. Ossie told me Matt knew who I was. That helps
llan: trying to quote the audio
Tweeny: Yep, HTF is one of my very favorite FST albums
Cease: There is a vast collage called The 6th Album Ossie asked me to make, if you recall.
Deputy Dang: Speaking of wuality... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ET2ioPxUEAAfXg4?format=jpg
Tweeny: haha Deputy
Cease: Mixing HTF, Roller Maidens and ProcBerg. I'm sure Ossie would want that in, but as I told everyone a few minutes ago in my email, the 6th Album goes well with the shows Austin asked me to do for the Firesign Radio Station, ie, mixes of Firesign, not Firesign and other stuff
||||||||| Catherwood enters with Al2O3 close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 8:00 PM tree-stunting plans, and dashes off to the anteroom.
Cease: I'm studying spanish now for up coming trip, if you consider duolingo studying
Al2O3: hello and welcome :)
Al2O3: so is this about something, just hanging out virtually, or a forum for announcements?
llan: good evening A12O3
Beet: Hello A1.
Al2O3: one of my favorite veggies, Meat, Beet and some Manifesto :)
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "And while we're on the subject..."
llan: this is a real chat room with real chatters and we listen to the firesign theatre while we chat
Al2O3: oh cool!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "These insignificant lumps came together..."
Al2O3: I'll hit the link above, and listen in.
Al2O3: so is this old school radio reads, but by amsat folks here?
llan: notfamiliar with amsat
llan: but this is from their radio program
Al2O3: well, old school radio is a big thing in my life.
Al2O3: so TY
llan: I think I call that old time radio or OTR
Al2O3: yep OTR
Al2O3: have TB of it from the 20s to the 40s
Tweeny: Hey Al2O3, good to see you here!
Tweeny: He's a new addition to the RFD fans :)
Cease: Hi AI
Al2O3: hellow
llan: I like arch oboler, burns and allen radio noir etc
Al2O3: wipe out burgers :)
Cease: Just got Whattsapp. Anyone else use it?
llan: lol
Cease: Benny for me.
Cease: X minus One
llan: that too
Tweeny: Here's a link to the album to which we're listening >> https://www.firesigntheatrelegacy.com/media/media.php?item=df-ln
llan: phycollogy
Deputy Dang: I use WhatsApp with a few friends.
Cease: Are you new here, AI?
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "I see you are a sailor."
Cease: I could not figure out how to use it. It asked for a list of my contacts, but that seems too invasive.
Tweeny: Yeah Cat, Al is new to RFD
Cease: I have to learn how to choose which contacts.
Tweeny: I just posted this chat link in the RFD chat
llan: great to have a new chatter with us
Cease: aha!
Cease: I read a good book too. Villa Incognito, Tom Robbin's last novel.
llan: this is my favorite sketch on the album
Cease: Now I've read them all.
Cease: Also read a couple of thrillers. I don't like thrilers, but these were set in the cities in Spain I'm going to
llan: graham greene?
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Swell pizza!"
llan: umberto eco?
Cease: Origin by Dan Brown (the guggenheim, in bilbao), April in Spain by Banville (San Sebastian).
llan: I see. havent read either author
Cease: I want to be thrilled by the quality of the writing, but by the hero escaping death
Cease: Brown wrote The Da Vinci Code. Tom Hanks has made even more millions with it.
Cease: NOT by the hero escaping death, but others not so lucky
Cease: yeah austin is too long here. when I make collages, i try and bring up the low volume parts even if it's in the albums
Cease: wow that is hard to hear.
Deputy Dang: I'm not hearing what you're not hearing. What is it you're not hearing?
Cease: is there something wrong with my soundsystem in the computer?
Beet: My sound is good.
Cease: Aha!
llan: yeah whole lines are disappearing
Cease: Not properly plugged in.
llan: this is not stereo of the 1970s
llan: but those days are gone
Cease: I had a computer malfunction yesterday that turned out to be solvable by unplugging modem, and yet, now it's selective
Deputy Dang: I'm not hearing gaps or pauses or silences. Nor am I hearing distinctly different volumes between the speakers.
Cease: ok it's probablyh a plug problem on my part
Deputy Dang: I think I hear 4 voices and some sound effects, and they sound reasonably voluminous.
Cease: yeah it makes no sense that I would release collages with such vast sound disparities
Deputy Dang: ... or maybe... I'm just hearing things...
Cease: lol
Al2O3: deep discount cots
llan: what part of the world are you in, A1?
llan: our friend nino is supposed to tell us but he is slacking these days
Cease: Yeah the volume changes immensely when I twirl the plug
llan: that happens on my car stereo
Cease: Did you announce your location, AI? I'm in Vancouver
Deputy Dang: Nino? In the TV?
llan: I am in florida these days
Tweeny: Cat, it's not AI, it's Al as in Alan
Tweeny: I made that mistake too :)
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "A stiff idiot is the worst kind."
Cease: Ah!
llan: cat had him figured as an algorithm and I thought he was a steak sauce
Tweeny: haha
Cease: lol
Deputy Dang: I'm in Florida these days also.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Cease: Bruce Snyder is in Florida. The greatest Firesign-inspired art we have.
Cease: I was in Florida in 1954. My parents considered moving there, but decided against it
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "It goes in - it must come out."
Beet: Gotte go. Enjoyed the session. Thanks everyone. G'Nite all.Amazing posters
Cease: By Beet
llan: nite beet
llan: sdklhasjhsjsjfhsakh
llan: good my computer didnt freeze
Cease: it's been oddly warm in vancouver
Cease: they called in Junuary
llan: yeah we had a warm spell earlier this week
Deputy Dang: It's weird! With a beard!
Cease: they old gray climate, it aint what it used to be
Cease: sky blue sky
Cease: this is amazing writing
Deputy Dang: Just in case... WPB is West Palm Beach. l-)
llan: I knew that
llan: I have been there
Cease: I did not
llan: even bigger than palm beach
Cease: Any state that elects DeSantis is not somewhere I'd care to live.
llan: yes I hear the upper west coast has a lot of wet weather
Cease: I almost did 70 years ago. I lucked out, to instead live in Firesign LA
llan: I liked desantis years ago. he did some good things believe it or not
llan: I lost some respect for him when he ordered the flags lowered to half staff for two weeks in honor of rush limbaugh
Cease: he used to be in favour of ukraine. many republicans did. trump has declared that over
llan: and he is in favor of the death penalty..I wouldnt vote for him
Cease: limbaught and his party dined near me in vegas. his voice was annoying even there.
llan: LOL
llan: was he filling the place with cigar smoke?
Cease: let's just say he violated a wonderful meal
llan: lol
llan: I saw a photo of him and his wife and it looked like his cigar was about an inch from her nose
Al2O3: so consider Xanadu when considering what the net, IP and rights on materials.
llan: the poem, the movie or the olde Kane place?
Deputy Dang: I'm being repressed! You saw it! Help! I'm being repressed!
llan: bloody peasant
Tweeny: lol DD
Tweeny: great bit
Tweeny: 'Constitutional Peasant'
Cease: I visited hearst casttle in 1959.
llan: I have been in a few mansions in rhode island
Cease: i plan to visit some in spain.
Cease: i had an amazing meal at some mansion/castles in spain and portugal long ago. amazing food
||||||||| Catherwood enters with llan close behind, mumbles something about disrupting his 8:00 PM tree-stunting plans, and hurries off to the vestibule.
llan: was I gone?
Cease: are you here?
Tweeny: you were a way gone cat, man
llan: far out
Cease: i do my best
Cease: doing some interesting work on my play this week. my cousin was in the mlitary so i'm sending him the battle of kiev scene
llan: is he going to play one of the russian soldiers?
Cease: no, just a consultant.
Cease: if that.
Cease: he barely remembers me, but he was a big cog in nato in brussels
Cease: the only cure for many things is death
llan: love that line
Cease: offr we flit
Deputy Dang: flit flit flit!
llan: yeah, great collage, cat
Deputy Dang: Thank you Tweeny! Thank you Cat!
llan: and thank you too tweeny
Cease: thanks
||||||||| Cease leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Billville.
Tweeny: Until last time, again...
||||||||| "8:00 PM? I'm late!" exclaims Tweeny, who then scurries out through the french doors and down through the flowerbeds.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 2 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 2:00 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Al2O3 - dead from jaundice
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Deputy Dang leaves at 8:00 PM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
||||||||| 8:00 PM -- llan left for parts unknown.   (Entry from Nick Danger's "Idiots I Have Been Paid To Follow").
||||||||| It's 2:15 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| llan - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| It's 2:30 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Beet - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:31 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
