||||||||| At 8:00 PM, the lights go out! Rocky Rococo's voice pierces the inky darkness: "I've got you now, Tweeny!" Shattering glass is heard, and then the lights come back on...
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Outside, the 8:00 PM downtown bus from Funfun Town pulls away, leaving Tweeny coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
||||||||| Catherwood enters with llanwydd close behind, grumbles something about disrupting his 8:00 PM tree-stunting plans, and dashes off to the vestibule.
llanwydd: happy thursday
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Beet falls out at 8:00 PM.
Beet: Hello, Friends.
llanwydd: hey beet
Beet: Hi, Llan, Tweeny
Beet: Another interesting
Beet: start to the evening
Beet: NASA updates are very important.
llanwydd: yes, I get updates on them al the time
llanwydd: all
||||||||| "8:00 PM? 8:00 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Deputy Dang should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Deputy Dang enters and sits on the couch.
llanwydd: when they launch at night I go outside to watch
Beet: I just watched the press conference with the Apollo 13 crew right after they got back.
llanwydd: Hey dang
Beet: Hey, Deputy.
llanwydd: I rememberthat. that was scary
Deputy Dang: Howdy, llanwydd!
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Shoes for Industry! Shoes for the Dead!"
llanwydd: I was just a kid
llanwydd: I wrote to the astronauts about it. I doubt they got my letter
llanwydd: wasnt it boreman lovell and hayes?
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Train's comin' through - right now!"
Beet: right

Beet: Here we go . . .
Deputy Dang: Yay! It started perfectly!
||||||||| Cease waltzes in at 8:00 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
llanwydd: I dont know how they do it. I dont know if I could take a trip to australia without getting claustorphobic
Tweeny: Evenin' pardners
llanwydd: Hey Tween
Cease: Hi all
llanwydd: Hi Cease
Beet: Hi, Tween, Cease.
llanwydd: I feel terrible about falling asleep during your collage last week
Cease: you can always listen to it in the archives.
llanwydd: not tonignt
Tweeny: llanwydd: I feel terrible about falling asleep during your collage last week<< luckily we have archives :)
llanwydd: I mean I wont fall asleep tonight
Cease: Got food feedback from Phil about it. He promoted it on his Facebook page.
llanwydd: I will definiely check it out
Tweeny: www/kurtericson.net/cat for Cat's collages
Cease: No collages from me tonight. Not sure what the next one will be.
Beet: Now, echnically, you wouldn't hear the Chromium Switch.
Beet: technically
llanwydd: I remember the CS
Cease: The probelm when I get positive feedback from the lads, I'm intimidated. Now I feel I have to make something as good as Smothered/Firesigns. A dauntring task.
Deputy Dang: food feedback? Groat clusters?
llanwydd: lol
Cease: Personally, I liked the Beatles Xmas collage best but not feedback on it. I got an email from Oona about the Eddie Izzard collage.
llanwydd: somebody ought to make a firesign cookbook with recipes for stuff like peccary pie and swell pizza
Cease: Bruce Snyder would be the person to do that.
Beet: no anchovies, of course.
llanwydd: lol
llanwydd: I had an anchovy pizza once
llanwydd: once was enough
Beet: very salty little critters
Cease: The eat a lot of anchovies in Spain. I don't know if I'll be able to avoid them there
llanwydd: still have to try a tapas bar
Cease: Yeah I had an anchovie pizza slice at Expo 67 in Montreal. It was frighteningly bad.
llanwydd: I make a great paella, though
Cease: I've been studying tapas bar reviews and menus online and a LOT of them feature anchovies.
llanwydd: too bad
Beet: I've seen some PBS stuff on tapas bars. Looks like a bunch of fun.
llanwydd: thats where I heard about it. jeff smith the frugal goumet on pbs
llanwydd: gourmet
Cease: I'll be in Spain for almost 2 weeks. I expect to eat a LOT of tapas, or as they're called in the Basque country, Pintxos.
llanwydd: thats a gentle giant song. two weeks in spain
llanwydd: very good song
Cease: i'd rather have 2 weeks in spain than 2 weeks in pain.
llanwydd: who wouldnt
llanwydd: say gth to franco for me
Cease: no anchovies!
llanwydd: lol
Beet: I was in the US Navy in Spain while Franco was syill alive.
Beet: still

||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Indonesia for the Indonesians!"
Cease: they won't notice.
Deputy Dang: Nevermind--*all* of them, not *each* of them.
Beet: You won't have any time left for the tapas bars.
Cease: i just finished a notel set in Bilbao's Guggenheim Museum, where I'll be in May.
Cease: novel, called Origin by Dan Brown.
Beet: Will you be in Madrid?
Cease: yes, 2 days at the beginning of the trip, then 2 more days at the end.
Beet: Going to The Prado?
Cease: My wife and I went on our 2002 trip to Spain. My 2nd favourite painting is there, Las Maninas.
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:00 PM and morlog bounds out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Cease: My wife wents me to check out another painting she liked.
Cease: Hi Morlog.
morlog: hey there
Beet: Hieronymus Bosch
Cease: On that trip, I didn't visit the Anthropology and Archceology museums, to they're first on my list.
Beet: Hey, Morlog
Cease: Yeah love that painting, Beet.
Tweeny: Hi morlog
Beet: Love the heckler
Tweeny: What a beautiful day in Austin today. Sunny and over 70F. It's only a brief respite though.
llanwydd: just checked out las maninas. huge painting.you would have to see it up close to get the full effect
Beet: 2 inches of snow here tomorrow
Cease: indeed
Cease: perfecrt painting to go with album. Don't crush that Dwarf
llanwydd: lol. for sure

llanwydd: hi elayne
Cease: Hi El.
Beet: Hi, Elayne.
Cease: Good news about the sound
llanwydd: it would be a strange thing to say in california but not in korea
Cease: llan, when I arrived in Japan in Aug, 1971, that line had a lot of meaning for me.
llanwydd: I see
Cease: Suddenly I was surrounded by Other People.
Cease: I think all our favourite Firesign lines are because the particular line had a particular situation attacxhed to it inour lives
llanwydd: just curious, cease. how long is the flight from the west coast to japan?
Cease: I think I love Las Maninas becuae of the Dwarf allusion.
llanwydd: never thought about that. I dont know what my favorite fst line is
Cease: about 9 hours.
Cease: My flight to Frankfurt is about the same. 9 1/2 hours.
llanwydd: I could sleep through it
||||||||| Rad steals in around 8:00 PM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last year's "unpleasant incident."
Cease: HI Rad
Beet: Hello, Rad.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Scene 3 - Take 600"
Cease: A Rad hand?
Elayne: Evenin' Rad!
llanwydd: hi Rad
llanwydd: sorry to say it but I hated that movie
Cease: What flick?
llanwydd: Rad
llanwydd: but great to see a new chatter
Cease: Never heard of it.
llanwydd: you missed nothing
Cease: We had the most snow in a day yesterday since 1996. I would have liked to miss that.
llanwydd: no kidding.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "We own the idea of NOW."
llanwydd: I hope I didnt insult Rad
Cease: Are you insulted, Rad?
Deputy Dang: I see... you are... a sailor...
Elayne: Ah, that was a nice album to listen to again. Thanks Tween!
llanwydd: is that your favorite fst line dang
Cease: Inbdeed, El
Cease: I love that Sailor line as well.
Tweeny: Hey Elayne, you're very welcome :)
Deputy Dang: I think it appears structurally in several of the early albums.
Deputy Dang: Or at least Bozos and DCTD.
llanwydd: if I had to pick a favorite firesign line I think it would be ...and pussycats to eat them when the sun goes down!
Deputy Dang: yes, with the mailman--white with foam!
llanwydd: lol
Cease: that was before molecular gastronomy made foam into a major ingredient
llanwydd: I never heard about that until you mentioned it several weeks ago
llanwydd: ...and an anchovy foam on the side

Cease: He should have tried Prague. More Czechs
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Vot into the room, accepts a wooden nickel as a gratuity, mutters something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
Cease: Hi Vot
Vot: What does one talk about in a firesign chat?
Cease: WE're listening to them now.
Vot: Hi hi hi
Cease: You know their work?
Vot: I know their work!
