DJTweeny: He's always encouraging people to make their own
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 8 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: he has done so with me particularly because I had the studio, but since i have moved, space has been, and still is a major factor. But, we shall see what we shall see!
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: And I'll be back here in an hour! I'm going forward into a past Outer Limits episode!
DJTweeny: Until last time, again...

llanwydd: shepherd told hilarious stories
snook: true he did. Saturday nights he'd broadcast live from the Limelight down in the village. He was on radio six days a week!
llanwydd: I listened to him religiously
llanwydd: I heard him only on WOR
snook: I listened in bed. My parents gave up trying to get me to go to sleep before midnight
llanwydd: lol
snook: I can remember falling out of bed from laughing so hard -- and that's not easy to do.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : A fst blooper reel?!?
llanwydd: lol
snook: I don't know if Shepherd ever crosspollinated with Firesign in any way time shape or place...

DJTweeny: Very cool that they had unlimited studio time
snook: Oh yes, certainly they did.
llanwydd: yeah that is tween
snook: Yes, unlimited studio time -- but no "mechanicals" -- no royalties worth mentioning. The irony gets me steamed when I think about it. Mother had a steam iron too
llanwydd: thats why they could put so much material into 40 or 50 minutes
llanwydd: its a miracle that such complicated stories can be so short
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Right you are llan!
snook: the Firesigns made this huge conceptual leap, creating audio that MUST be heard more than once, because it can be
Not Ed: that era was a good time in the studio
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Though aural in scope, it was as visual as a tv or movie

general dysfuntionally late: god bless all the synchronicities that wove these four creative threads together

||||||||| Catherwood enters with raga boy close behind, mutters something about disrupting his 9:39 PM tree-stunting plans, and scurries off to the sitting room.
snook: Of course in Firesign's work -- like radio -- the picture is much larger and the colors much better than video or movies...
llanwydd: howdy rb
Not Ed: raga
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Raga boy! Welcome!
llanwydd: holy cow! you came in at the right moment
snook: If the Firesign Theatre had been from India, would they have dressed in ragas?
DJTweeny: Hi raga boy
llanwydd: spectacular entrance
llanwydd: from ragas to riches
Not Ed: haha
snook: that was a movie wasn't it?

llanwydd: oh hes leaving
llanwydd: whatever
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Llan, do you mean Elliot Ness?
llanwydd: webb
Rufus_T_Firetween: walked into a revolving door
llanwydd: no JAM, I meant the outcasts of india
snook: there isn't much elliottness in Firesign, although they did use typewriters
llanwydd: nick danger is like ness but a little grittier
||||||||| Catherwood trudges in at 9:46 PM, dragging Merlyn by one foot and asks "Can anyone vouch for this idiot?"

Not Ed: What?
snook: No pr reall s working fi re in Indian
||||||||| Mark Time invites you to watch and listen to Firesign’s XM Radio Performances Watch The Firesign Theatre In Action!

general dysfuntionally late: ah, bear whiz beer, quenches my thirst again and ralph spoilsport there to assure me there might not be a tomorrow. Here's to that!
snook: That reminds me, I'll be right back, I'm going for a Whiz
Not Ed: Ralph Watersport? ewww
Merlyn: Firesign ahead of time again
Not Ed: Hug a fascist today!
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Really, really despised the Nix

Cat: i remember this.
||||||||| Bill Sprawl pokes his head in through the window and shouts "MARCHING TO SHIBBOLETH! Click to order!"

DJTweeny: Good quote
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : True, true!
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Persecution to the full extent of the law!
Merlyn: He goes right into a station ID

snook: Ah well, I've pulled the plug, and now I have to get out of the tub. May your Future be Fair!
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Norman Corwin. Check.
||||||||| At 10:05 PM, the lights go out! Rocky Rococo's voice pierces the inky darkness: "I've got you now, snook!" Shattering glass is heard, and then the lights come back on...

Cat: https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/article/PBS-to-Premiere-Eugene-Jareckis-THE-KING-About-Elvis-and-America-20181219
Cat: Makes Memphis sound like the music capital of the world.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : It was, at one time. But by the time i moved there in 72, it was nearly all dead. Stax was gone. Only Ardent studios was the only serious studio left.
Cat: Never came back?
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : When they renovated Beale street in the mid 90s, it came back a little bit. But not the originality that was almost a trademark earlier. Sun studios is a tourist stop now. Beale is a tourist stop. Serious original music, not much!
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : There’s more going on musically in Asheville, NC than Memphis.
Cat: Are there music centers anymore? Or is everything deceltralized via youtube, etc.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Scotty Moore came to hear me play in Memphis in 93
Cat: That must have been an honour.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Asheville is as close to a music center as i have seen in a long while.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Every genre of music is in asheville, electronic, bluegrass, prog tribute bands, ambient, straight ahead rock, you name it
Cat: There was an SF sound, the Dead perhaps it smost famous exports. LA had Laurel Canyon, the Doors and others. Seattle. Other US cities.
Cat: When I lived in LA, my favourite groups were Sweetwater and Spirit.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : sound, for sure.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : There was a Memphis sound, for sure, kind of gritty. Sprinkle a little delta dirt over the reels as they turn in the studio.
Cat: It was in the right place and the right time.

llanwydd: idea
llanwydd: you dont mean your last, do you
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : There’s supposed to be a big one overdue for Memphis from the New Madris faultt
Cat: no, previous. i hope to write more.
llanwydd: Oh of Course!I didnt remember your play was set in Frisco
Cat: all 3 acts, starting with the 06 quake, then proctor and bergman dodging bullets and then the island city of the far future.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski : Dodging bullets sounds too real
Cat: Phil centres his autobiography on that incident.
||||||||| Captain Equinox flies in through the transom, landing on the bearskin rug. "Attention, solstice squad! After working a 12-hour day, I like to kick back and swill some juice out of a genuine Firesign coffee mug or Bear Whiz Beer stein!"
